Second Annual Indonesian Bazaar

May 20, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm PDT

Second Annual Indonesian Food and Art Bazaar in celebration of Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, May 2023, in SF.

For a second year in a row the Friends of Indonesia organization presents the 2nd Annual Indonesian Bazaar an event created to introduce, promote and showcase Indonesian cuisine and culture to the Bay Area. This event is a curated food and art event that takes place at La Cocina Municipal Marketplace, bringing together one of a kind Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) small busineses, selling delicious food, aromatic cofee and intricate art.

To top it off, we will also bring unique and exciting entertaiment–including traditional dance, music, fashion show and video presentation of the wonderful Indonesia. We will transform the beautiful marketplace into an exotic market for one day.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Tickets will only be available online through Eventbrite. No tickets will be sold at the door. Please purchase your tickets in advance. This year the bazaar entry is separated into two parts, morning and afternoon, to guarantee the smoothness of the event and everyone’s enjoyment. You will have plenty of time to enjoy performances and shopping from different vendors. You can expect to enjoy good food, art and culture at this one of a kind Bazaar. Everyone must have a ticket to enter the event including children. We appreciate your participation and coorperation.

SUSTAINABILITY: There is no cooking in the kitchen for this event, there will be snacks to enjoy but no full meal service. Some vendors will have an open order a head of time, where you can order all kind of Indonesian dishes to go. We will announce the vendors and performers closer to the date through this Eventbrite page, our website and social media. Bring a few of your reusable grocerie bags to the event to make sure you have enough to hold all the goodies that you want to take home and eat later.

This is a community diaspora event initiated by the Friends of Indonesia organization to celebrate the AAPI heritage month. This event is supported by The San Francisco Indonesian Consulate General, APA Heritage Foundation, La Cocina Municipal Marketplace and Indonesian American Community Outreach. The Consul General of Indonesia will lead at the opening and ribbon cutting ceremony.

In addition, we are very grateful for the collaboration from Indonesian groups/diaspora and the Asian American and Pacific Islander community in the Bay Area. In Indonesia we have a saying “Gotong Royong” means mutual cooperation, working together to create a better outcome. This celebration is a community work to create awareness of Indonesian products and a better oppurtunity for the diaspora to showcase the country. Dear Community, PERMIAS, Gamelan Sekar Jaya, KCB, IFund and many more organizations play an intergral part to help materialize this special event that only happens once a year.
